Kyo wa tanoshi Hinamatsuri!

March 3rd 2020

Today is Hinamaturi day. The day is known as girls day.

We had special visitors, Me (M’s mom), K (L’s mom), H (A’s mom), and K (T’s mom) for teaching us about Hiamaturi. We had wonderful activities and enjoyed it a lot.

Thank you so much for today!

Morning Fun

“What we are going to wash today?” We asked teachers and today was a car washing day! We help each other to wash the cars with soap and then Nimo helped us rinse them nicely. Go go go away baikinman! On the big table area was busy with puzzle. We actually had a board game first, but we wanted to play with the puzzle so we asked Sayaka and she got us puzzles instead. T got choose to play with and he chose Thomas puzzle. On the big carpet, we had wood blocks and other puzzles too. We enjoyed doing puzzles with Pauline over at the carpet area. We used enjoy playing on our own but now, we really enjoy playing together with friends. We are happy to build something with our friends. We are taking turns to share our toys. We shared our ides to play together. Playing together is so much fun!  Our teacher asked us to clean up a bit earlier that usual because our special visitors are coming! So, we helped each other to pack away then waited for them. We had some time before they come. Then some of us took turns to be a little teacher. Being a little teacher is a fun and big job. He/She sat on the big chair, decided what we sing, and play (Pretend) with ukulele. We then finally had special visitors came…”My mommy!” L, M, A, and T shouted. Welcome to Petals!

Circle Time-Hinamaturi.

Me (M’s mom) showed us a book about Hinamaturi. The book was about how the dolls were made. Me told us that there are many craftsman that work together to make one Hina doll. First, a kimono craftsman chooses the design and then makes a kimono out of it. Then another craftsman carefully makes the head, then there’s a craftsman for the body, and finally another craftsman who puts it all together. The book has lots of pictures so we were able to see how each step was done. It was amazing to see how much care and work was put into such a small little doll. When we display the doll, male (king) doll comes on the right side and the female (queen) doll comes on the left side on a big platform with seven steps. Me told us that people make small paper Hina dolls to sail down the river for good luck and good health.

Right after Me finished the book she asked us if we wanted to make our very own paper hina dolls! Of course we did! Our amazing moms had a wonderful activity that was making paper hinamaturi activity. Me (M’s mom), K (L’s mom), and K (T’s mom) helped us for the activity. While we were waiting for our turns, H (A’s mom) showed us her wonderful skill and it was balloon making. She made variety of balloon shapes for us. It was so interesting to look at what she was making it. We could tell that all mommies who came prepared a lot for us. Thank you so much! We said, “Thank yooooou!.” to them and we all gathered on the big carpet. Hinamaturi is not finished yet. After that L, M, A, and T gave us Hinaarare (Special snack for hinamaturi). It looks so yummy! Thank you so much for today. We had a great experience.

After that we had a quick snack time and headed to the step park. We saw lots of people at our park. We enjoyed playing a tag with Nimo. Its lovely to see Mr. sunshine came out and is saying to hi to us.

Have a lovely evening and see you all tomorrow.

 Love,
