Inserting through Baskets

Every day, we learn a lot of new things that our hands can do. For the past weeks that we have been working on our big project, we learned that we can cut, rip, and paste colored paper and shiny sequins. We also discovered that even though we make a mess at times, we can also use our hands to clean up by scraping and wiping off paste from our hands.

There were baskets on the table with two types of materials that we can insert through it… fuzzy piper cleaners and bendable straws. Our younger friends had a blast inserting, bending, and twisting these materials. We also had to think of different ways on how we can smoothly insert these objects because the basket holes vary in sizes. It was also fun to work together!

Lacing through Paper Hands

We worked on lacing pipe cleaners through paper hands. The activity  helped our older friends in further enhancing their eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills. It also encouraged them to think of ways of how they could multitask by holding the paper firmly and lacing at the same time. It was also fun to feel the fuzziness  of the colorful pipe cleaners.

Sensory Bins

Nanako guided us in the sensory play area that was set up. The same objects from yesterday’s mystery bins were in it: cotton, kinetic sand, garland, and spiky seed pods. We got to further inspect how these different objects looked and feel with our hands.

Balloons Zooming Around

John made us all stare in awe when he got our attention by letting out air from a balloon which zoomed around the class. Everyone had different reactions to it, some of use were amazed, some were stunned, while some got startled.

Circle Time

We started our Circle Time with a few simple exercises to help us get in the mood for a fun singing period. Slowly, we are getting used to staying in our circles so that all of us can have a better view of each other.

We continued our discussion about what our hands can feel. Today, we found out that aside from feeling textures, our hands can feel different temperatures too! Since it was hot, Erika asked us to feel the coolness of ice. It sure felt good when we touched our cheeks with our cold hands! While playing with the ice cubes, we noticed that it started to slowly melt into water. When all the ice cubes have melted, we all took turns in scooping waters and pouring it into basins. No need to worry about the spills! We all used our hands to wipe it off using towels.

Together with our teachers, we all danced and played to Ella Jenkin’s  “Stop and Go”. Thank you Goh San for showing how to do the “skate” action.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
