Tanabata Celebration

IMG_6037.JPG

Good morning friends! It was another beautiful day in Buds class and we’re simply happy to see how our friends are doing in the classroom. We started our day by doing some amazing sculptures with our play dough. Each of us got a set and we started making pancakes, cookies and hotdogs. It was nice to see how our fine motor skills are starting to develop a lot more and our teachers are always guiding us to be able to achieve that skills we want to get.

The other table was busy with newspaper. One of the amazing creations we did was making small rocks (round shape ones) and twigs. It was something we enjoyed showing our teachers and friends.

Nimo came down to help for a bit because John had to go to the office to have a little office work for half an hour. It was nice to have him in Buds class because just like John John, he can also play with his ukulele and make music in the classroom. What fun it is to know that almost of our teachers at Ohana can actually play music and enjoy it with all the children.

John came back and did another music time with us. We sang our favorite songs and counted our fingers, did a little bit of chant and finger play about “Johnny, whoops” wherein we trace our fingers and sang to the songs.

We went outside for a walk and saw some Takabata decorations. We remembered that today is also the celebration of Tanabata and we’re excited to learn more about it when we got back to school. After our walk, we washed our hands and gathered in our circle. Chiaki sat down with us and talked about Tanabata. She even showed some photos from the computer about what Tanabata is and told us the special story about the prince and princess. It is so amazing how they can be very patient of not seeing each other for a long time and they could only meet each other every Tanabata day. If it’s raining and no stars in the sky, they have to postponed and meet again next year. It’s a sad story but we’ve learned lots of lesson from it. Chiaki also helped us to make our very own “tanzaku” a special paper where we could write our wishes and hang them on special bamboo as part of the decoration and blessing for the year.

Lots of love,

Buds Class
